SUMMARY:J9 Training
DESCRIPTION:The J9 Domestic Abuse Initiative raises awareness of domestic abuse and helps survivors access support safely. Delivered by NDADA\n\n\nJ9 Training- Delivered by NDADA-North Devon Against Domestic Abuse\nBrynsworthy Environment Centre\n10.00-12:00 Main Delivery \n12:00-12:30 Q&A Discussion \n(This training will be followed by the Northern Devon Community Developers Forum. Lunch and Networking between 12:30-13:00\, for a 13:00 start. See separate eventbrite for details.) \nAbout J9 Training \nThe J9 Domestic Abuse Initiative raises awareness of domestic abuse and helps survivors access support safely. We train professionals and community members to recognise the signs of abuse and respond effectively. \nOnce trained\, organisations display the J9 logo\, showing survivors that they’ve found a safe place where they can access information and use a telephone to contact support services. \nMany survivors tell us they never had the chance to reach out because it wasn’t safe. It’s not always easy to know who to contact\, where to go\, or what options are available. Coercive control is a common feature of abusive relationships\, and perpetrators often work to block survivors from accessing support. J9 helps break down those barriers by creating a network of safe places where survivors can speak out and get help. \nThe Government consultation Transforming the Response to Domestic Abuse highlighted Safer Places’ J9 initiative as an example of good practice.
