DESCRIPTION:The course is for anyone who works with\, lives with\, or supports young people aged 8-18 years.\n\n\nTHIS 2 DAY COURSE IS AVAILABLE TO EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS OF VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS WHO WORK DIRECTLY WITH YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 8-18 YEARS. \nMental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. \nMHFA England training won’t teach you to be a therapist\, but just like physical first aid\, it will teach you to listen\, reassure and respond\, even in a crisis . \n \nDATES: Tuesday 18th \nTIMES: 9am – 5pm \nWednesday 19th February \nTIMES: 9am – 5pm \nLOCATION: This is an online course. \n \nThe outcomes of the course are: \nAs a MHFAider®️\, you will be able to: \n \n\nExplain what mental health is\nDescribe how to look after your own mental health and wellbeing\nDescribe the signs of possible poor mental health in young people\nExplain some of the risk factors associated with poor mental health in young people\nDemonstrate how to apply the youth MHFA action plan (ALGEE) in a Youth Mental Health First Aid conversation\nDescribe the role of a Youth MHFAider\n\n \nCOST: £35 pp to cover certification and resources. \nAny questions\, please email Louise via cvs@ndvs.org.uk or phone 01271 866300

DESCRIPTION:Emergency First Aid at Work 1/2-day course\n\n\nTHIS COURSE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS OF VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS \nThis 1/2 day course (9.30 – 1.30pm) based at North Devon Hospice\,Deer Park\, Barnstaple\, Devon\, EX32 0HU \, is recommended and recognised by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) \nOn completion of training\, successful candidates should be able to: \n1. assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely\, promptly and effectively in an emergency \n2. demonstrate how to administer first aid safely\, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure \n3. demonstrate how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation promptly and effectively \n4. use an AED \nThe course duration is 4 hours and participants will recieve a certificate and manual as part of the course. \nCost: £30 pp
